Photo must be in colour, taken within 6 months, no glasses, neutral expression. Required for the IRCC citizenship application (CIT 0002), the oath ceremony and certificate issuance. Two identical signed photos are required for the paper application; one digital JPG for the online application.

FAQ

What people ask before submitting CIT 0002.

Is this the same as a Canadian passport photo?

+
Yes. IRCC uses the identical 50×70 mm white-background spec for citizenship and passport. One photo session works for both — useful when you're naturalizing and renewing your future Canadian passport sequentially.

Do I need 2 photos for the paper citizenship application?

+
Yes. CIT 0002 requires two identical signed photos. Our 4×6" sheet has both correctly cropped and ready to be signed/dated by the photo studio (or by you if applying as your own photographer per IRCC guidance).

Does the photo need to be signed and dated?

+
Yes for paper applications — by the photographer / studio. If you're submitting digitally only, the signature block is not required, but the metadata date must be within 6 months.

Glasses?

+
No. IRCC removed the glasses exception in 2016. Photos with any glasses are auto-rejected.

What if IRCC rejects the photo?

+
Full refund of US$4.99 via PayPal within 24 hours.
