Passport photo 2×2 inches online — US, DR, Caribbean, Mexico
Destinations using 2×2 inches
United States: passport (DS-11, DS-82), all nonimmigrant visa categories (DS-160), immigrant visas (DS-260), DV Lottery, Green Card, USCIS forms. Plain white background.
Dominican Republic: pasaporte (DGP) and cédula (JCE). Plain white background. The same 2×2 spec used in DR and in all DR consulates worldwide.
Jamaica: passport (PICA). Plain white background.
Bahamas: passport. Plain white background.
Trinidad & Tobago: passport. Plain white background.
Belize: passport. Plain white background.
Mexico: passport (SRE). 2×2 inches is acceptable, but Mexico's preferred dimension is 4.5×4.5 cm — slightly different from US 2×2. complypic's Mexican-passport template targets the SRE preferred spec.
Several other Caribbean nations follow the 2×2 standard with minor head-height variations.
Background — universally white
All 2×2 inch destinations require plain white or off-white background. There is no light grey variant in this size cluster (unlike the 35×45 mm cluster, where strict Schengen requires grey).
Off-white (#F5F5F5 or similar) is accepted everywhere. Pure white (#FFFFFF) is the default complypic uses.
No textures, no patterns, no shadows. The biometric check rejects backgrounds with visible variation.
Head height by destination
United States: head 25–35 mm chin to crown (about 50–69% of the frame).
Dominican Republic (DGP/JCE): head 25–35 mm chin to crown. Same range as US.
Jamaica (PICA): head 25–35 mm chin to crown. Same as US.
Bahamas: head 25–35 mm chin to crown.
Trinidad & Tobago: head 25–35 mm chin to crown.
Belize: head 25–35 mm chin to crown.
Mexico (SRE): preferred head 32–36 mm, slightly larger than US standard. The Mexican spec biases tighter.
Net: the 2×2 inch cluster is the most uniform of the major spec clusters. One generation often passes multiple destinations.
Cross-destination compatibility
US passport + US visa + DV Lottery: identical spec. One generation covers all three.
US passport + Dominican passport + Dominican cédula: identical spec. One generation covers all four (US + 3 Dominican uses).
US passport + Jamaican passport: spec is identical. One generation covers both.
US passport + Mexican passport: dimensions are very close (51×51 mm vs 45×45 mm), but the Mexican SRE template biases tighter head height. A US-spec photo may need re-cropping for Mexico.
DR + Jamaica + Bahamas + Trinidad: identical specs across all four Caribbean destinations. One generation covers any subset.
When 2×2 inches is the wrong spec
Schengen visa: needs 35×45 mm with light grey background. 2×2 is rejected.
UK passport: needs 35×45 mm. 2×2 is rejected.
Canadian PR or passport: needs 50×70 mm. 2×2 is rejected (Canada's 50×70 is significantly larger).
Indian eVisa: needs 350×350 px square. The dimensions in pixels are similar to US 2×2 at 300 DPI (600×600 px), but India's spec accepts smaller minimum (350×350 px) and different head positioning.
Korean K-ETA: needs 600×600 px square, very similar to US 2×2 dimensionally, but with strict K-ETA background uniformity. complypic's K-ETA template is calibrated tighter than the US template.
